Skill Ultimate LevelEdit

Is it you that is putting those "Ultimate levels" on all the spell pages? What are you doing that for anyway? - Flowerbuds

Yep, it's me. Do You know what are "ultimate levels"? Some items with "+all skill", "+mastery skill" or "+specific skill" can raise skill level up to four levels above its maximum. These additional levels are called "ultimate levels" in game files. I belive including them in skill page is desirable. - Wiki Kaczor (talk) 08:23, September 17, 2013 (UTC)

Adoption Edit

Hi. I’ve given you admin and bureaucrat rights on this community as you requested. You now have the tools you need to clean up, customize and maintain the wiki.

Check out your Admin Dashboard, which can be found by clicking "Admin" on the bottom toolbar -- it has links to all your new tools. Please let me know if you have any questions, and good luck with your new (old) wiki! -- Wendy (talk@fandom 04:53, December 18, 2017 (UTC)

Congratulations on being appointed admin!

Neosteamwiki (talk) 20:35, December 18, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks. I am able to change users' permissions now, so if You are still interested in administrator's rights, I can grant You them. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 08:34, December 20, 2017 (UTC)
I can help out as another administrator. Thank you. Neosteamwiki (talk) 13:21, December 21, 2017 (UTC)

ARZ ExplorerEdit

Cheers, I got ARZExplorer set up and working. Thanks for your help! Heh, the Medicine mastery looks like it could have been amusing. Sanmeiwolf (talk) 21:26, June 24, 2018 (UTC)

Glad that I could be of help. I believe Medicine was an early concept of Nature, but skill names are so... unserious. Typhon with a hiccup would be quite a sight, though. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 13:17, June 25, 2018 (UTC)

Spanish WikiEdit

I made a request for a Spanish wiki. Do I hope not you  mind? In any case, it can be removed
—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ranger360 (talkcontribs)

Not at all. In fact, certain parts on this Wiki has been made with translations in mind. I'm afraid I cannot revoke your request though, it probably went directly to Wikia staff (of which I am not part). Besides, Spanish TQ Wikia seems to already exist since 2012. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 08:48, June 27, 2018 (UTC)

Cleaning upEdit

Yes and look "candidate for deletion"
—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ranger360 (talkcontribs)

I'll clean things up in time. My main focus now is updating pages to Anniversary Edition/Ragnarök. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 08:48, June 27, 2018 (UTC)

Rename and deletion requestEdit

Can you rename "A Lessen in Despair" to "A Lesson in Despair" and change the link on the Quests page accordingly? Can you delete the page with the misspelled title "The Wealth Collector"? I have recreated it with the correct title The Wealthy Collector while trying to fix this, and have updated the link on the Quests page. Is there a way to see what pages link to a page? My appologies for creating a bit of a mess when I finally noticed that someone had misspelled some quest titles. (Zyphrus (talk) 15:27, July 2, 2018 (UTC))

Done, done and done. You can review links between pages through this tool. And there is no need to apologise, such things happen all the time. You should be able to rename pages yourself within a couple of days and to request a true deletion just paste {{Delete}} within unwanted page. Thanks for your contributions. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 17:12, July 2, 2018 (UTC)

LettersEdit

Why do we need separate pages of letters, if there is this ? Ranger360 (talk) 14:33, November 4, 2018 (UTC)

For someone unfamiliar with this Easter egg it may not be obvious that Ode to the Night, for example, is considered a letter. Additionally individual articles improve search results, as some keywords may occur in other pages' names (e.g. there are a lot of items and monsters containing the word night) which pushes Letters further down the list. I agree, however, that these pages needlessly overlap and I see two solutions:
1. Delete Letters altogether and leave only individual pages and category.
2. Replace the contents of individual pages with REDIRECT to Letters.
What do you think? -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 10:23, November 5, 2018 (UTC)
I don't know Ranger360 (talk) 12:01, November 5, 2018 (UTC)
I really like the single page, but would redirects really be more visible in the search results? Hmm, maybe if each redirect page has a title like "Letter: Ode to the Night" or "Ode to the Night (Letter)". This wiki has some mechanisms for embedding pages in other pages. Ihave no idea how to use them though. Maybe make individual pages and then one page where all of them are embedded? Zyphrus (talk) 00:42, November 6, 2018 (UTC)
While redirect guarantees that target page will appear in the search results, it doesn't seem to affect positioning. However, when you type the full name and hit enter redirect will take you directly to correct page instead of presenting search results. Creating the list of letters by inclusion of individual pages is not a bad idea. To do that use: {{template name}}, {{:page name}} or {{namespace:page name}} depending on namespace included page resides (e.g. {{:Ode to the Night}}). -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 10:56, November 6, 2018 (UTC)

Admin rightsEdit

I think you need to give Zyphrus admin rights as the most active member Ranger360 (talk) 12:25, November 5, 2018 (UTC)

You've already suggested it to him here and he doesn't seem to be interested. I'll gladly give him admin rights whenever he wants it. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 14:40, November 5, 2018 (UTC)
I have thought this through and come to the realization that the concerns I had had are nonissues. More importantly, I will continue to play TQ in the forseeable future, so staying involved with this wiki fits right in. Kaczor, if you offer me admin rights, I will gladly accept. Probably the only difference it would make concerns deleting pages: I would delete empty categories myself after two weeks or so of them being marked for deletion, and we would have a second active person who can quickly do things like deleting a new page with a misspelled title after moving it. On another note: Do Admins get notified of changes on ALL pages? That would be useful to have. Zyphrus (talk) 01:26, November 6, 2018 (UTC)
Done. Welcome among administrators. Anyone can see full activity log here irrespectively of his privileges. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 10:56, November 6, 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome :) I sometimes look at Special:RecentChanges, but probably miss some edits of obscure pages like for specific armor pieces. Would have been nice to have a "send me an email about every page change" checkbox somewhere. Zyphrus (talk) 00:41, November 7, 2018 (UTC)
Well, there is Send me and email when someone edits checkbox at the bottom of email preferences. Not sure how reliably it works, though, I've never used it. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 12:13, November 7, 2018 (UTC)

Let's axe all category pages for specific monster typesEdit

These categories contain just the monster type page (sometimes it is not even included) and some (usually not all) of the pages for special monsters of that type. Category:Dune Raider is a good example: https://titanquest.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Dune_Raider. The thing is, there is no ingame "Dune Raider" tag, so all the category is able to do is confuse newcomers and recreate the nicely formatted list of special Dune Raiders on the Dune Raider page in a really messy way. Zyphrus (talk) 20:42, November 7, 2018 (UTC)

The is no characterRacialProfile=Dune Raider, but there are A LOT of different monsters sharing this type:
List
tagMonsterName111=Dune Raider ~ Mounted Marauder
tagMonsterName112=Dune Raider ~ Pillager
tagMonsterName113=Dune Raider ~ Assassin
tagMonsterName254=Dune Raider ~ Veteran Assassin
tagMonsterName255=Dune Raider ~ Elite Assassin
tagMonsterName256=Dune Raider ~ Veteran Marauder
tagMonsterName257=Dune Raider ~ Elite Marauder
tagMonsterName258=Dune Raider ~ Veteran Pillager
tagMonsterName259=Dune Raider ~ Elite Pillager
tagMonsterName359=Iznu ~ Dune Raider Chieftain
tagMonsterName1142=Akil the Shadowborn ~ Dune Raider Hero
tagMonsterName1143=Badru the Mad ~ Dune Raider Hero
tagMonsterName1144=Jabari Lin, the Crimson Viper ~ Dune Raider Hero
tagMonsterName1145=The Faceless One ~ Dune Raider Hero
tagMonsterName1146=Najja the Parched ~ Dune Raider Hero
tagMonsterName1460=Dune Raider ~ Sand Viper
tagMonsterName1463=Dune Raider ~ Vizier
Aggregating them all in a common category seems very natural to me. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 23:25, November 7, 2018 (UTC)

Legendary ItemsEdit

Links don't work, only only through archive sites
—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ranger360 (talkcontribs)

Fixed for now. This page needs to be completely redone in future, though. It looks like a mindless copy&paste from external source. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 12:47, November 8, 2018 (UTC)

Navbox templateEdit

I am currently trying to add a navbox template as another way to quickly navigate between pages. The template I am trying to copy is this:
https://runescape.fandom.com/wiki/Template:Weapon

The Navbox template it uses is implemented as {{#invoke:Navbox|navbox}} which seems to be implemented by a lua module
https://runescape.fandom.com/wiki/Module:Navbox
https://runescape.fandom.com/wiki/Template:Navbox

which in turn seems to use
https://runescape.fandom.com/wiki/Module:Yesno
https://runescape.fandom.com/wiki/Module:Tnavbar

Copying everything over to the titanquest wiki just produces an error. any idea what I am doing wrong?
https://titanquest.fandom.com/wiki/Template:Navbox

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Zyphrus (talkcontribs)

Short answer: You've misspelled the function name (it's navbox not Navbox).
Long answer: The first two arguments of the parser function invoke are module name and entry function name. Both are case sensitive (the first letter of a module name is an exception due to MediaWiki's quirk, so it makes no difference if you use {{#invoke:ModuleName... or {{#invoke:moduleName..., I'd strongly recommend using upper case though - just like on the module page itself).
As for debugging process: You can click on the red Script error on the Template:Navbox to see the full error message. In this case it's The function you specified did not exist. which is pretty self-explanatory. Keeping in mind that the letter case do matter, scroll through Module:Navbox and check if the function you're trying to call is there.
By the way, have you deliberately chosen these modules? They seem to me to be unnecessarily complicated for our needs. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 04:22, March 20, 2019 (UTC)
What I actually wanted was a simple template: a box that has a link to each secret boss plus the turtle passage and the new secret passage. The idea was to put that box at the bottom of all the pages it lists.
The wiki help system regarding templates is a complete waste of time. So as a last ditch attempt I tried to copy an existing template they had showcased as an example. it looked decent and easy to use. I didn't know how to get more info about the error message so I was stuck.
That info about inspecting the rror and what the error was really helps.
I haven't really looked at the lua code but suspect it is originally from wikipedia and designed to be really flexible and be a building block in a larger interface system. Zyphrus (talk) 13:37, March 25, 2019 (UTC)
Your diagnosis is spot on. I don't mind if you still want to use these modules, but consider switching to something simpler. Diablo Wiki has super-easy-to-use navboxes (Navigaton Box and slightly more complicated, CSS-heavy Navbox). It doesn't really matter what you choose in the end, but you can save yourself some work. If you need any help with templates or modules, just ask. I'm really short on my spare time lately, so you may need to wait a couple of days for an answer, but I will answer eventually. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 09:28, March 29, 2019 (UTC)

Redesign main pageEdit

How do you like this update? Ranger361 (talk) 16:30, April 3, 2019 (UTC)

Hey! Sorry for such a late response, but I've been quite busy lately. I like your changes, maybe the main page needs even more clean up. Wiki Kaczor (talk) 07:28, May 8, 2019 (UTC)
Broken links and archives, I think can be delete. Ranger361 (talk) 09:24, May 8, 2019 (UTC)
I've deleted the invalid links. As for archived ones, while I understand that using the Web Archive is not ideal, titanquest.net is still a great source of information. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 07:30, May 11, 2019 (UTC)
In archive links, only one page usually works (main) the rest does not work Ranger361 (talk) 09:44, May 11, 2019 (UTC)
Not entirely true. Just use Wayback Machine to view earlier snapshots (time bar at the top). Take a look at excellent (although a little outdated now) Poinas' Guide for Attribute Points for example. Using Web Archive is cumbersome - I agree, but in my opinion it's not enough to discard this possibility altogether. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 12:33, May 11, 2019 (UTC)
I think can remove the column "You can help" and instead of him use "External links". Other ways to reduce the main page do not see Ranger361 (talk) 07:35, May 12, 2019 (UTC)
I've deleted the discussion feed, because there is hardly anything happening there, but other than that maybe it's better to leave the main page as it is now. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 14:39, May 12, 2019 (UTC)

There is hardly any difference between these images. By the way is it just a scaled down version of the original titan quest .exe icon? -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 15:43, May 17, 2019 (UTC)

Div question Edit

Hey, I hope you're doing well. I wanted to ask if there was any particular reason you were using so many <div> elements in articles like this one. To my knowledge, the table will function without them. There are certain portability disadvantages associated with using divs where they are not needed, especially when viewing the wiki from a mobile device. So if they are not necessary, then it would probably be a good idea to avoid them in the future. —Atvelonis (talk) 22:51, May 18, 2019 (UTC)

Hey! The table will certainly work without <div>s, but their purpose is to separate different lines within a single cell. It's not a perfect solution, I know, but it's the best I've found. <br/>, <span> and double new line character leaves a lot of empty space before and after a block, which is especially annoying in a long table viewed on a mobile device. <p> is even worse in that regard. To my knowledge there is also no way to style these elements properly for mobile environments. According to my tests <div> works fine in both desktop and mobile, but I'm willing to change it if better solution exists. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 07:13, May 19, 2019 (UTC)
OK, it seems that avoiding whitespace altogether also solves the problem. If the version below is preferable, I'll drop <div>s.
{{ Skill Progression
|<!--
-->{{ Skill Config | lifeMonitorPercent = 33 }}<br/><!--
-->{{ Skill Config | damageAbsorptionPercent = 15 }}<br/><!--
-->{{ Skill Config | skillActiveDuration = 6 }}<br/><!--
-->{{ Offensive Physical | offensivePhysicalModifier = 15 }}
...
While we're at it, can you point me to some bots tutorial? -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 11:55, May 19, 2019 (UTC)
Sorry for the late response! Rough scheduling. Yes, my understanding is that line breaks would be more portable than divs. As for a bot tutorial, I'd personally suggest AutoWikiBrowser, as it doesn't require programming knowledge, and the interface is pretty easy to learn (understanding regular expressions would be valuable for more complex tasks, though). You could also try PyWikiBot if you know Python, although if this is your first time using a bot on Wikia, AWB is a safer bet.
There are some setup things you have to be aware of with AWB, otherwise you'll get some confusing errors: firstly, when you download the file, you actually can't use the button that says "Download Latest Version." Instead, you have to click on "AutoWikiBrowser6001." There are some connection/login issues that crop up if you try to use an older version on this site.
When setting your wiki of choice (Options -> Preferences), you also have to scroll down and choose "custom" instead of "wikia," and then type in https://titanquest.fandom.com. Because of the recent domain name change, saying wikia breaks it, and the AWB devs apparently haven't fixed this bug yet. Once you do this, you should save these settings as your default in AWB (File -> Save settings as default) so that you don't have to type them in every time.
Beyond that, Wikipedia's user manual for AWB is very thorough, and I can answer questions too if there's something unclear. If needed I could also assist with my own bot. AWB is an amazing tool and will save you a ton of time if you learn how to use it! —Atvelonis (talk) 20:09, May 21, 2019 (UTC)

Discord channelEdit

Hi Kac, I want to know if you guys have any Titan Quest-related Discord in order to make the contributions on Wikia more easily. I would love to get more involved with helping out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Helios14Max (talkcontribs)

I personally don't hang out on the Discord, but maybe others do. If you have any questions about editing the Wiki, this talk page is a good place to ask them. If you want to coordinate your contributions with others, try creating a blog post or ask currently active users directly. -- Wiki Kaczor (talk) 18:13, May 20, 2019 (UTC)
