Aegipans are a type of monsters encountered in Act VI, Atlantis. They are Beastmen resembling massive, hunched humanoids with dark skin, red fur and large curled horns (caster variants have pale skin and bluish-black fur instead). They're met as enemies in Gadir's Outskirts, on the way to the Necropolis, and their later variant, the Highland Aegipans, are encountered several times on the Atlas Plateau and Mount Atlas.

As with many other Beastmen, they're often met in small groups, with both ranged and melee fighters occasionally lead by a Champion melee fighter or a caster and, if not engaged with caution, can easily overwhelm the player, especially coming after the relatively easy Giant Mosquitoes and Babary Lions in Gadir's Outskirts.

As with all other Atlantis enemies, their Monster Infrequents equipment also comes in common (white) variants.

Variants[]

As described above, Aegipans are divided in normal Aegipans near Gardis and Highland Aegipans on Mount Atlas, though they're almost indistinguisheable apparence-wise. Their types are shared (with one Champion exception for the Highland ones) and is the following:

  • Slinger: Basic type armed with throwing weapons and fast attacks.
  • Soldier: Basic melee warriors armed with shields and melee weapons of all types.
  • Roamer: Armed with spears and the Rogue's skill Lay Trap, which can prove troublesome as it pretty much doubles their firepower.
  • Brute: Unarmed warriors, tend to have better stats but are otherwise no different from Soldiers.
  • Mystic: (Champion) Magic user, attacks from a distance with his wand. They can use an unique spell in which they drop a bunch of boulders right on the player.
  • Alpha: (Champion) Melee champion stronger in combat.

Equipment[]

As with all the Atlantis monsters, Aegipan's unique equipment also comes in Common versions that can be obtained and even bought in some case. Their equipment covers both warrior and caster armor and all weapons but the bow. The Warrior's infrequents are named after Redfist, the Caster ones are named after the Geomancer.

Notes[]

Aegipan is the name of a mythical greek creature similar to the god Pan, believed by some to be even one aspect of the god himself.
